The Ballard FFA Chapter was chartered on October 9, 2014 and currently provides leadership opportunities to members at local, district and state levels. The Ballard FFA Chapter makes a difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
The Ballard FFA Chapter is part of the Ballard High School Agricultural Education program. The program offers classes for high school students in the areas of animal science, plant science, agribusiness and agricultural leadership. All FFA members of the Ballard FFA Chapter are enrolled in at least one semester of an agricultural education class.
In addition to agricultural education coursework, members participate and keep records for individual supervised agricultural experience programs. These programs range from animal and wildlife entrepreneurships to landscape placements.
The first in-house Ballard Agricultural Education class was held on September 16, 2014.
An open house was held to build awareness of the new program on September 24, 2014 in the high school commons. Parents, students, school members, community members, state FFA representatives and Iowa State University faculty were present.

In December, the chapter held its first fundraising event. A pork chop dinner was held as a tailgate-type meal before a Ballard Varsity Basketball game double-header. Members also made and sold jar-mixes to raise funds for the newly chartered chapter.
Ballard FFA sent eight kids to the Pork Congress to compete in the Judging Contest.

Fifteen FFA members attended the State Leadership Conference in Ames, Iowa. Three members competed in State Marketing Plan and the Ballard FFA was recognized as a newly charted chapter during the first general session.

The first Ballard FFA Parent-Member banquet was held at the high school. Over 60 members, parents and guests were present.

Members toured the John Deere Pavilion, Hummel Livestock, Crossroad Genetics, Not Just Popcorn, Louisville Slugger and LP Sipes Tobacco Farm.
